Had a wonderful time at Touchwood and learnt a lot about furniture making! Tommy is a great teacher with a wealth of knowledge! A lot of practical tips and learning. Love the community concept of Ground-Up Initiative!

Cannot recommend this workshop enough! Tommy is very knowledgeable and taught us about different types of wood, different tools and techniques (e.g. difference between japanese and western saw), manual tools as well as machine use, gave us advice on our own projects we want to work on after the course and I could go on and on. He loves to teach, always has another funny story to tell and shares his life wisdom. Cannot imagine any better workshop trainer, also love the whole atmosphere of the workshop and volunteers at GUI – such a great place, we are so happy we found this gem. 3 weekends well spent, got rewarded with our selfmade stool, so special! Thanks Tommy, hope to see you again soon 🙂

Looking at my handmade wooden stool after 3 lessons, I felt the joy and sense of achievement as a beginner. This is made possible with our very experienced and seasoned teacher – Tommy. I enjoyed the learning, the kampong lunch and tour. Many thanks to Tommy, Max and the team!

I loved this very hands on course. Tommy is a great instructor and really takes pride is sharing his knowledge about the craft even beyond the scope of the course.
The course in itself is well paced and gives you a chance to try both hand and power tools and a variety of techniques.
